A web app for groups that share costs, like poker nights, roommates, and trips. Everyone logs what they paid or owe, Dues keeps a running balance for each person, and when it's time to settle up it works out the fewest payments needed to clear everything.
Everything happens inside a group. You can join one with its six-digit PIN, an invite link, or a join request that the owner approves. Each group's dashboard shows your current balance, anything waiting on your approval, and notifications like new join requests or rejected edits.
Each expense or game is a session, and there are a few ways to record one:
Changing a past session changes other people's balances, so nobody can do it on their own. An edit shows each affected member their before and after amounts, and it only goes through once they've all approved it. If anyone rejects it, the original stays and the editor is notified. Members who trust their group can turn on auto-approve in their profile.
Settle Up totals everyone's net balance and suggests the smallest set of payments that brings you to zero, using a greedy cash-flow minimization that matches the biggest debtor with the biggest creditor at each step. You can adjust the suggestions before confirming. Dues never moves money itself. Instead, it links to each person's Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, or Zelle with the amount already filled in.
SECURITY DEFINER functions that return only what's needed to join.Screenshots are from the app's built-in demo mode, which uses made-up people and amounts.
